The Town of Yadkinville’s Long Range Planning Committee has worked with a consultant from Benchmark Planning to craft a vision, goals, and strategies for the Town’s Comprehensive Plan. Since August of 2016, the Town of Yadkinville has been working to complete a Comprehensive Plan to guide the future of the Town. Last fall, the Town held a public workshop and conducted a survey that had more than 300 participants. Survey respondents expressed a desire to have a vibrant downtown, town-wide revitalization, and additional shops and restaurants while retaining its small-town charm. Workshop attendees placed emphasis on the need for economic development and downtown revitalization.
Based on the background report and public input summary, the draft plan focuses on a future in which the Town of Yadkinville has a vibrant downtown, steady and managed growth, a diverse economy, and quality housing availability for all ages. Example recommendations include improved development and maintenance standards, streetscape enhancements, pedestrian improvements, infill development, downtown facade improvements, and economic development initiatives.
